The past two years make the upward spiraling of Klangstof undeniable. Following the release of their successful debut album ‘Close Eyes To Exit’, Klangstof completed extensive tours around the globe with The Flaming Lips, Miike Snow, and Jagwar Ma. In 2017, Klangstof became the first Dutch band to play the world-renowned Coachella festival in the US; a remarkable achievement that tells all you need to know about the band’s abundant musical ability. That same year, Klangstof won the award for ‘Best Alternative Act’ at the Edison awards, the Dutch equivalent of the Grammys. After their follow-up EP ‘Everest’ came out they completed an astonishing headline tour across Europe, selling out London and Berlin among others.
Last year has been all about locking themselves up in the studio, focusing on where it all started; the process of creating the music. The quartet has been delving into various music styles to reexamine and fine tune their very own musical utopia. As much as ‘Close Eyes To Exit’ was influenced by frontman Koen van de Wardt’s upbringing in rural Norway, the new era of Klangstof inspired by and created in the fast pace and busyness of urban living in Amsterdam.
